THE HERO’S CYCLE was displayed at the WORLD EXPO 2010, in Shanghai.
This series is inspired by the book “The Hero with a thousand faces” by Joseph Campbell. Through this series of paintings, the artist represents the hero’s journey through nine major steps common to most myths, tales or stories:
THE CALLING, from a sign, THE DECISION, sometimes encouraged by a mentor, THE DEPARTURE, THE JOURNEY, THE TRANSITION or major critical challenge, THE DEATH OF THE EGO, a rare moment of complete lucidity and possibilities, THE TRANSFORMATION, rebirth, THE RETURN to the original group and, successfully, THE COMPLETION.
THE HERO’S CYCLE was painted in Monaco, 2008. Acrylics and bronze leaves. Paintings 1, 2, 8 and 9 measure 20x20", 3, 5 and 7, 40x40" and 4 and 6, 60x20". Total size when displayed: 13 x 5.7 feet.
