CAROLINE BERGONZI APOCALYPSE

In these times of millennium transition there has been a collective obsession with various apocalyptic scenarios, such as the predictions Nostradamus and the Mayan calendar for the end of 2012.

In this context, Bergonzi remembered being moved by the Bible’s Book of Revelations, a rich source of symbols and images so powerful as to verge on the cruel. In 2010 she created a 12-meter long artwork inspired by the Apocalypse of St. John. The series is composed of 12 independent yet interrelated paintings that feature angels, dragons, celestial battles and much more. This masterpiece revolves around a spiritual and universal concept, and offers the powerful curves, organic forms, fluid movement and vivid colors of her recognizable style.
